Charles R. Macintosh was a Scottish chemist and inventor who lived in the 19th century. He is known in particular for developing a process, which was later referred to as the “Mackintosh process,” which made it possible to produce waterproof fabrics. This development had a huge impact on the clothing industry and led to the creation of raincoats and other waterproof garments. Macintosh himself then founded the company Macintosh & Co., which produced raincoats and other waterproof clothing. His invention has therefore helped people to be better protected in bad weather.
